This weekend saw the sun shining on us for the first time since Round 2 at Levels Raceway in Timaru for Round 4 of the National Road Racing Championship.Qualified: 1st
Placings: DNF, 1st , 2nd

Saturday 14 Jan
Qualifying:
I qualified strongly to finish on Pole position with at Personal Best lap time of 1.11:03. It is important to have a good grid position at this racetrack as there is a very short distance from the start line to the first corner.
Race 1 – DNF
I did not finish this race as I had a problem with my braking at the end of the back straight on Lap 1 whilst in 2nd position. I went off the track at high speed and very luckily walked away with no injuries at all, although the bike did not fare so well. Fortunately we were able to use our spare bike to rebuild the bike back to 100%.
Sunday 15th Jan
Race 2 – 1st
I got a good start for this race and was in 2nd place at the first corner. By the beginning of the 2nd lap I was in the lead and proceeded to win by a good margin of 6 seconds. In the process I broke the lap record 3 times with best time of 1.10:43.
I now hold the lap record for 250GP at Levels Raceway.
Race 3 – 2nd
My start in this race was OK and I was 3rd going into the first corner. By end of the first lap I was in 2nd place and had some ground to make up on the leader. I was able to challenge for the lead but couldn’t hold onto it. It was a close finish.

I finished in 3rd overall for the weekend.
Summary
It was a very tough weekend for us, having to come back from such a big set back on Saturday and not getting any championship points for that race. Both Lester & I worked really hard to put that day behind us and get some good results for the rest of the weekend. The final round at Ruapuna next weekend will now decide the championship.
